Allen ErheimPsychotherapist

Real conversations. Real-life strategies.

Therapy should do more than just listen. Here is how I work.

Understanding the roots

We start with what is really going on, not only the symptom that brought you in. Patterns in how you think, relate and cope usually have a history, and understanding it takes the shame out of it.

Building trust

Nothing useful happens without safety. You set the pace. You decide what to share and when. I will be honest with you, and I expect you will tell me when something does not fit.

Making meaningful changes

Insight alone is not enough. Each session ends with something practical: a way to respond differently, a conversation to have, a habit to try. Small changes, kept up, are what move your life.

The methods I draw on

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT): noticing and changing the thoughts and habits that keep you stuck
  • Psychodynamic therapy: understanding how your past shapes your present relationships and reactions
  • Mindfulness and meditation: staying present with difficult feelings instead of fighting them

I combine these to fit you, not the other way round. The work is evidence-informed and tailored to the individual; no single method suits everyone, and no result is guaranteed.
